National HSE Advisor

The Position: Based at our Fairfield branch, the National HSE Advisor is responsible for supporting the General Manager - Operations in the effective management and implementation of Health, Safety, Environment, Rehabilitation and Training throughout Komatsu Forklift sites nationally.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Identify gaps in the application of Key HSE Procedures & recommend corrective action to be implemented
- Coordinate and manage the Return-to-Work process for injured workers, ensuring safe, timely, and compliant rehabilitation and reintegration into the workplace.
- Review SWP's & update to be aligned with current HSE procedures
- Develop JSEA & SWMS for common high-risk work/jobs
- Train staff & implement the adoption of HSE procedures across all branches
- Audit branches for compliance against HSE procedures
- Lead and conduct incident investigations, including the preparation of the investigation report.
- Randomly attend toolbox meetings and where necessary communicate HSE information.
- Assist in mentoring and supporting Departmental employees to ensure full understanding and adherence to Komatus’s Safety Management & Environmental systems, particularly KomSAFE.
- Undertake chemical management audit across Komatsu Forklifts sites nationally and assist in updating information into ChemWatch as well as educating personnel in the use of Chemwatch.
- Oversee the use of the online contractor management portal.
- Assist in the management of Workers Compensation claims and Rehabilitation Plans/Programs
- Assist with the random drug and alcohol program.
- Prepare HSE bulletins, alerts and communications.
- Provide support in HSE when required.
Qualification, Requirements & Skills
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in workplace health and safety
- Minimum Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
- Knowledge of Workers Compensation and Rehabilitation claims management.
- High level organisational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines
- High level of internal customer service/satisfaction skills
- Ability to communicate with end users and have well-developed written and oral communication skills
- High level of expertise in Microsoft suite computer programs
