The Opportunity:
As a Senior Field Service Technician, you will provide skilled maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on customer mobile plant equipment across Canterbury and surrounding areas.
Based at our Christchurch branch, this is hybrid position supporting both the workshop and customers in the field, providing responsive field service and technical support.
This is a hands-on opportunity for a qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic with mobile plant experience who enjoys troubleshooting equipment, working independently and supporting customers in the field.
You don't need previous Komatsu experience. We are looking for technicians with experience working on mobile plant or similar heavy equipment, who can bring strong diagnostic and troubleshooting capabilities to the role.
Role Located: Hornby South, Christchurch
Roster: Monday to Friday – 8:00am to 4:30pm
What you'll be doing
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair and maintain mobile plant equipment.
- Use electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams and technical information to identify faults.
- Complete testing and adjustments using relevant diagnostic equipment.
- Attend customer sites across Canterbury and surrounding areas, including breakdown response when required.
- Complete accurate service reports, job cards, timesheets and required documentation.
- Assist with major site-based equipment maintenance projects.
- Work safely and professionally while providing a high level of customer service.

What we are looking for:
- Qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic or overseas equivalent.
- Previous mobile plant experience is essential.
- Experience working on heavy mobile equipment or similar machinery.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and hydraulic diagrams.
- Good understanding of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to work independently and manage field-based work.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good computer skills and ability to complete accurate service documentation.
- Class 1 driver's licence; Class 2 heavy transport licence is preferred.
- Experience within mining, quarrying, construction or forestry environments is desirable.
