Date:  26 Jun 2026
City:  Christchurch - Branch

At Komatsu New Zealand, you’ll be part of an inclusive culture where all our people thrive, reflected in our purpose: creating value together. We encourage people with diverse backgrounds to apply for this role.

At Komatsu New Zealand, we're trusted by some of the country's largest mining, quarrying and construction operations to keep equipment productive, safe and performing at its best.

Beyond supplying world-class mining equipment, we're helping customers unlock greater value from their fleets through advanced monitoring, fleet management and performance solutions that improve productivity, reduce downtime and support safer operations.

We're now seeking a Project Lead – Mine Technology to play a critical role in the successful establishment of a new greenfield mining operation in New Zealand's South Island.

The Opportunity:

Based in Christchurch or South Otago region, you'll lead the implementation and operational integration of Komatsu's fleet management and monitoring solutions at a major new mining operation.

This role sits at the intersection of mining operations, fleet performance and technology.

Working directly with mine managers, supervisors, operators and maintenance teams, you'll help establish the systems, processes and reporting that enable the customer to effectively manage equipment utilisation, production performance and operational efficiency.

You'll become a trusted advisor to the customer, helping transform operational data into practical actions that improve mining outcomes.

This is a rare opportunity to influence the success of a new mining operation from the ground up while working with one of the industry's leading equipment and technology providers.

Role Located: Christchurch, NZ or South Otago region
Open to relocation from further abroad

Why Relocate to South Otago?

  • Outstanding lifestyle and natural beauty – South Otago offers a relaxed pace of life surrounded by stunning coastlines, rolling countryside, rivers, and outdoor recreation opportunities, making it ideal for those who enjoy fishing, hunting, hiking, and exploring the outdoors.
  • Affordable living and strong community feel – Housing is generally more affordable than in larger New Zealand centres, while local communities are welcoming, family-friendly, and known for their strong sense of connection and support.
  • Great work-life balance – Short commute times, less traffic, and easy access to nature allow residents to spend more time doing what they enjoy outside of work.
  • Gateway to the South Island's attractions – South Otago provides convenient access to Dunedin, Central Otago, Queenstown, and Fiordland, offering the benefits of regional living while remaining connected to some of New Zealand's most iconic destinations.
