The Opportunity: Based out of our Christchurch branch the Leading Hand will work closely with the Branch Supervisor to develop improved business processes whilst ensuring safety adherence, policy compliance and minimising any risks.

The Leading Hand will oversee the efficient day to day operations, increased profitability and coordinating all activities of staff and customer requirements in accordance with compliance requirements, operating to ensure safely is of the highest priority.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Issue appropriate documents and work instructions to shop floor.
  • Maintain In-Process and final inspection Quality Assurance requirements.
  • Maximise labour output.
  • At all times, apply safe working practices, including a high standard of housekeeping.
  • Fulfil the requirements of Komatsu Australia Quality Assurance performance.
  • Assist with quotations/tenders.
  • Assist in efforts to reduce job costs, oversee efforts required to meet delivery targets.
  • Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Implement and monitor all Quality Procedures, in accordance with the specifications and/or Contract Plan.
  • Ensure employees and sub-contractors adhere to the Company’s OH& S requirements.
  • Provide technical and product information to staff and customers.
  • Supervise trades persons in trade related work on plant equipment and components in accordance with manufacturers’ standards within the laid down time frame.
  • Conduct job estimations including planning and job progress.
  • Supervise the on-the-job training of trades persons and apprentices in consultation with the training staft
  • Assist in design application of customer modifications.

What we are looking for:

  • Previous supervisory/ leading hand experience
  • Ability to schedule and delegate
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong key team player
  • Professional self-starter, with high attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of Quality Assurance and active in promoting its principals.
  • Ability to lead and mentor a team.
  • Basic to intermediate computer knowledge/skills

 

Qualifications:

  • Certified Tradesperson
  • Current Drivers Licence (HT preferred)
  • Forklift Certification
  • Working at Heights Certification
  • Senior First Aid Certification
