The Opportunity:

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced tradesperson to join Komatsu New Zealand as a Leading Hand Service, based in our Auckland branch.

Working closely with the Service Supervisor, you'll play a critical role in coordinating day-to-day workshop activities, supporting technicians and apprentices, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to Komatsu's high-quality standards.

This is a hands-on leadership position where you'll combine your technical expertise with strong people and organisational skills to maximise workshop productivity, support customer requirements and drive continuous improvement.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Coordinating daily workshop activities to ensure safe, efficient and productive outcomes.
  • Supporting and mentoring technicians and apprentices through on-the-job coaching and guidance.
  • Planning jobs, monitoring progress and assisting with estimates and quotations.
  • Ensuring quality assurance requirements, safety standards and operating procedures are consistently maintained.
  • Liaising with customers and internal stakeholders to deliver exceptional service outcomes.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality and cost management.

What we are looking for:

  • Trade qualification with relevant heavy equipment, mechanical or industrial experience.
  • Previous Leading Hand, supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Strong technical diagnostic and fault-finding capability.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate and prioritise workshop activities.
  • Strong communication and customer relationship skills.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
  • Computer literacy and administrative capability.
  • Current Driver's Licence.
