The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Operational Efficiency Lead for our Distribution Centre at Wacol. This a pivotal role that will be responsible for improving business efficiency through safety initiatives, cost reduction, quality improvement and delivery performance by leading and driving continuous improvement.
This role is responsible for ensuring the safety of all personnel within the warehouse environment by maintaining full compliance with HSE legislation, Komatsu policy and regulatory requirements, supporting the execution of warehouse operations to meet the safety, quality, cost, and delivery standards through system integrity, WMS management, and process optimisation.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations Efficiency
- Drive Lean methodologies in alignment with the organisational directives and the national continuous improvement (CI) strategy.
- Identify inefficiencies and implement corrective/preventive actions.
- Develop and maintain SOPs for warehouse, transport, and material handling.
- Lead CI projects (racking, layouts, automation, packaging).
- Analyse data to build business cases with cost, risk, and ROI insights.
- Run cross-functional workshops and maintain project documentation.
Operational Support
- Provide operational guidance to meet safety, quality, cost, and delivery targets.
- Optimise layouts, slotting, and storage capacity.
- Align resource planning with operational goals.
- Ensure WMS data accuracy and manage UAT and post-implementation reviews.
Transport & Packaging
- Ensure safety compliance for packaging and freight.
- Improve transport efficiency, packaging design, and load safety.
- Manage packaging consumables and conduct compliance audits.
- Identify freight optimisation opportunities and support corrective actions with carriers/vendors.
What we are looking for:
- Previous experience in DC parts operation or a warehouse environment in the construction or mining equipment industry.
- Demonstrated understanding of Lean methodology in a warehouse environment, understand and apply K-way principles through understanding of Kaizen and Quality Circles.
- Understanding of Warehouse Management Systems (paper less) and Inventory Management principles.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Flexibility to work the hours required to meet the needs of the business. (Overtime will be required)
- Experienced in Occupational Health, Safety & Environment compliance regarding warehousing.
- Experience working with set performance measures and defined KPI’s, strong understanding of Microsoft analytical tools, Power BI and Power Point applications.
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Supply Chain / Business Management / Lean manufacturing / 6 Sigma
