The Opportunity
Based at our our Fairfield branch, the HSE Advisor will report to the Regional HSE Manager and provide support in the effective management and implementation of Health, Safety, Environment, Sustainability, Rehabilitation and Training throughout Komatsu’s South East Regional sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the management and improvement of the Regional Health, Safety, Environment, Sustainability and Rehabilitation Plan.Work closely with Regional HSE Manager in implementing key strategic initiatives.
- Implement and attend Health, Safety and Environment Committee meetings as required.
- Assist Regional HSE Manager in HSE reporting requirements as required.Conduct Health, Safety, Environment, Sustainability and Rehabilitation training in line with Komatsu’s national and regional strategic plan as required.
- Conduct Risk Assessments and prepare Job Safety Environmental Analysis in conjunction with the site management team and develop Safe Work Procedures as required with a focus on safety, not technical information.
- Lead and conduct ICAM-based investigations, including the preparation of the investigation report.Conduct site compliance inspections and HSE audits.
- Drive HSE engagement and training through tools like KOMSafe and other digital platforms,Attend occasional pre-shift meetings and where necessary communicate HSE information.
- Assist in mentoring and supporting employees to ensure full understanding and adherence to Komatsu’s Safety Management & Environmental systems.
- Undertake chemical management audit across Komatsu regional sites and assist in updating information into ChemWatch as well as educating personnel in the use of Chemwatch.
- Assist with Site Health, Safety, Environment Inductions for all employees and contractors.Interpret and apply WHS Act, Regulation, and Codes of Practice in NSWCoordinate NSW workers compensation claims and Return to Work ProgramAssist in the management of Workers Compensation claims and Rehabilitation Plans/ProgramsAssist with ourdrug and alcohol program.
- Lead and support emergency planning, drills, and site readinessBring hands-on safety experience and technical understanding to support our teamPromote Just Culture by applying a fair, human-centred approach to incidents and non-complianceAssist with ISO45001 and ISO14001 implementation/accreditation as required.Produce clear safety communications (HSE bulletins, alerts ….).
- Provide support in HSE when required.
What we are looking for:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in workplace health and safetyWorkers Compensation and Rehabilitation claims managementHSE Auditing/workplace inspections experience.
- Strong understanding (or willingness to master) NSW WHS laws and standards.
- Confidence working with regulators and preparing formal HSE reports.

- High level organisational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
- High level of internal customer service/satisfaction skills.
- High level of expertise in Microsoft suite computer programs.
- Minimum Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
- Tertiary qualification in HSE preferred.
- Certified ICAM Lead Investigator or ready to be trained.
- NSW Return to Work Coordinator certified or ready to be trained.
Travel Requirement: Regular travel to regional branches is required to support site-based HSE activities
